[NEW TIME]Kids Paint: Magic Potions

[NEW TIME]Kids Paint: Magic Potions In-Person

Due to the rain, this program has been rescheduled to Friday, August 22, 10am. If you are registered and cannot attend the new date, please cancel your registration by calling 914-793-5055 or email Ms Amy at achang@eastchesterlibrary.org. Thank you.

What happens when you add baking soda and vinegar to your painting? What about salt? What do you think the white crayon will do? Join us for a creative exploration that combines art and science! Please wear art-appropriate clothes. Ages 2-10. Registration Required. Disclaimer: the finished product may or may not be something beautiful, but that's the point, right? We'll use the following solutions: watercolors, baking soda, vinegar, salt, dish soap.

In this series, we focus on process art. But what is it?

Process art is exploring art for the creative process. The focus is the joy of creating rather than a beautiful end product. Unlike traditional art projects where the goal is to create a perfect masterpiece, process art emphasizes exploration, experimentation, and expression. Children are encouraged to use various materials and techniques to create their own unique works without any set expectations or guidelines.

This style of art exploration encourages creativity and enhances problem solving skills by trial and error. When the goal is to explore the creative process, there is no pressure to perform or make everything perfect. They gain the self-confidence to create without fear, and the resiliency to bounce back from mistakes.
