From Sargent to Rockwell: Figurative Art in the 20th Century with Sue Altman: Part 2 Online
Art lecturer Sue Altman is back with another engaging Art Series via Zoom!
This six-lecture course explores the evolution of American figurative art in the 20th century, shaped by the artistic revolutions of late 19th-century Europe. We’ll follow the rise of movements such a American Impressionism, the Ashcan School, Regionalism, Social Realism, Harlem Renaissance and the Bay Area Artists.
Featured artists include John Singer Sargent, Edward Hopper, Grant Wood, Jacob Lawrence, and many other influential and sometimes overlooked men and women who helped define the era.
